Arsene Wenger: Berbatov’s Transfer Saga Not Similar to Adebayor’s

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger does not think that Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor created a similar situation that Tottenham Hotspur’s Bulgarian international Dimitar Berbatov has created recently, calling for a move to Manchester United. However, Tottenham does not want to let the striker move to Old Trafford until they receive at least £28million as transfer fee. In response, Berbatov refused to play for Tottenham and stirred much anger among the team maters as well as Coach Juande Ramos.

Arsenal’s Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor seemed to leave the club at one point during the pre-season, and was linked with AC Milan and Barcelona, claiming an increase in his pay role. All the rumors and speculations around Adebayor’s future at Arsenal were put off when the player put pen on paper to come under a new contract with Arsenal.

However, Wenger is reluctant to compare the situation that Adebayor created with that of Berbatov. The French manager has said that Adebayor was committed to the club and Arsenal was his first choice, while Berbatov seems to want a move at this moment. That is what Wenger pointed out to differentiate between the two situations.

Players Should not become Complacent After Newcastle Victory

Arsenal completely outclassed Newcastle yesterday by 3-0. Many websites and newspapers have praised Arsene Wenger boys a lot for this amazing victory. Let me give you some headlines from some Arsenal blogs:

Three goals, clean sheet, three points. Lovely.

Black and white convicts dispatched

Given Heroics Unable to Stop Rampant Gunners

Well, I am not that much impressed with yesterday’s victory for three reasons. Firstly, Arsenal played the match at home at the Emirates Stadium in front of its own supporters. The club is always good at home. Secondly, Newcastle threatened them quite a few times. I agree that Arsenal should have got some more goals but I could not see the killer instinct among the players. This is much needed to win both at England in Europe.

Team effort was good and at times, there were vintage Arsenal attacks. This is the best thing that has come from this game- team effort. However, I just wish that Arsenal players don’t become complacent because of the praise of the media and fans. Instead, they should focus on the next game against Blackburn. That one will be an away match and they must not repeat the performance of last week.

Patrick Vieira, ‘Arsenal Needs a Big Leader in the Midfield’

Former Arsenal Cpatian Patrick Vieira has recently revealed that Arsenal should buy a strong, experienced centre midfielder this Summer in order to become a strong contender for the silverware. However, the current Inter Milan player believes that the Gunners have the ability to win against any side in their days. What he picked up as Arsenal’s weakness is lack of experience which, he insisted, would be crucial in the big games.

Arsenal lost a number of first choices in the midfield over the Summer including Matthieu Flamini, Gilberto Silva and Alex Hleb, while signed youngsters like Samir Nasri and Araon Ramsey. Recently, Wenger landed former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre at Emirates stadium, and to Vieira, Silvestre could spend a successful stint at Arsenal with the ability to cope up with pressure using mental strength and talent.

Arsene Wenger Can Afford a £30m Signing, Says Arsenal Director Danny Fiszman

Danny Fiszman holds the second largest stock in Arsenal share. So, when he recently claimed that Arsenal could spend £30m for a new signing, there was enough reason to believe him. Now, if he is to be believed then it is for sure Arsenal has the financial ability to move for a record signing.

The Arsenal director also confirmed the decision to sign any players is up to Arsene Wenger; not to the investors and shareholders. Fiszman rejected ideas of Arsenal’s financial crisis, claiming that Arsenal does not need any more investment and the club can survive by its own. He also backed Wenger’s strategy of recruiting young players over aged players because he thinks matured players need more time to adjust with Arsenal’s style of football.

Well, now it is clear that Arsenal has enough money to buy a new signing, which has been centre of talk among Arsenal fans recently. However, still it is up to Arsene Wenger who will take the final decision. Now, let us see if Wenger brings in any more players at Emirates stadium before the Summer transfer window closes.

Arsenal Hoping for a Strong Come Back against Newcastle United

Arsenal is facing Newcastle United tonight with the hope to bounce back in premier league to put their Fulham setback behind. However, a strong performance is eagerly anticipated from the Arsenal boys tonight. Arsenal defeated the Magpies twice last season in premier league, clinching 3-0 victories both in home and away. Naturally, the expectation is higher among the Arsenal fans.

The good thing for Wenger is that he does not need to contend with any fresh injury. With Fabregas making a satisfactory come back from hamstring injury, Gunners midfield looks stronger and more united and that must be a pleasant feeling for the fans. However, new signing Mikael Silvestre will remain sidelined with thigh injury. Moreover, long term absentees like Eduardo, Abou Diaby and Tomas Rosicky are still recovering from their injury problems.

William Gallas and Theo Walcot suffered minor knock in knee during their 4-0 thrash over Twente, but both the players are expected to be available for tonight’s home fixture against Newcastle United. Another key player Samir Nasri also shook off a stomach bug which sidelined Nasri during midweek victory over the Dutch club. I think, Emmanuel Adebayor will be in the starting line up against Newcastle United, while Nicklas Bendtner will be in the substitute bench.

Newcastle United started off well in the season with a draw at Manchester United in the opening match and then a victory over Bolton Wanderers last week- thus accumulating four points from two matches. However, coach Kevin Keegan will be without a number of injured players including Geremi, Obafemi Martins, Mark Viduka, Damien Duff, Claudio Cacapa and Andy Carroll. Injury badly affected their front line, leaving Michael Owen as the only fit notable striker now. Joey Barton might come back in the match.

To be honest, I do not expect anything bigger from Arsenal, rather I will just be happy to see the Gunners leaving the ground with three points, because for us, it is very important to be back in winning track in the league. If Gallas and co. can replicate their last season’s success over the Magpies, it will be something additional for the fans because, I think, Newcastle United looks stronger and sharper than they did last season. So, a victory should be the first priority for Arsenal.

Arsenal in the Group of Death in Champions League 2009?

Today, I was reading the previews of different groups in Techtainment. It seems that Liverpool is in a tough group of UEFA Champions League 2009. Then, what you would say about the group of Arsenal. Arsenal is with Fenerbahce, Porto and Dinamo Kiev. Porto and Dinamo Kiev have playing in Europe for many years and both of them know how to win titles in Europe- something which Arsenal is yet to get. You should not neglect Fenerbahce at all. It is a rising team in Europe. They have a well balanced team with some quality players. So, Arsene Wenger will have to focus a lot on Europe this time in the group stage.

Of course, in the qualifier, Arsenal played very well and defeated FC Twente convincingly. So, it seems that this time, Arsene Wenger is more confident in Europe. OF course, they need to focus on the EPL at this moment. Arsenal is going to play against Newcastle United this weekend. This is a must win game for them.

In the meantime, you can read Chamku Review- a review of a new Bollywood movie.

Arsenal Pulled off 4-0 Victory over FC Twente to Confirm Champions League Group Stage

Arsenal showed some magnificent football against FC Twente at home last night. Gunners outclassed the opponents 4-0 to clinch a 6-0 overall score to ensure their group stage in Champions League. After the Fulham loss Arsenal needed a morale-booster performance against FC Twente and they did exactly what could have needed to make a strong come back. Moreover, Arsenal’s celebration has been extended as the midfielder Cesc Fabregas has returned in action from hamstring injury.

French midfielder Samir Nasri put Arsenal ahead in the 27th minute when his firing left-foot shot past goal keeper Nicolay Mihaylov into the Twente goal. Following the goal Arsenal got more confident and created a number of scoring chances before half time. The visiting side could not pose any threat for the Gunners and I would say it was a total dominance by the home team.

Though Samir Nasri played well throughout the first half, he was substituted by Emmanuel Eboue at the half time because the French international was suffering from stomach problem. Just seven minutes into the second half, Arsenal doubled their lead thanks to a goal from William Gallas. Arsenal Captain just needed to tap the ball into the net. Theo Walcott played really well and scored the third goal for Arsenal. The winger took a curled shot at goal in the 66th minutes that confirmed a big margin victory for the home team.

Denmark international Nicklas Bendtner was preferred to Emmanuel Adebayor in the starting line up, and Bendtner impressed with his performance as well, scoring the fourth goal for his team. With his injury time goal, Arsenal confirmed a total domination all through the match.

Actually, Bendtner looked like a competent target man in the match, even though he managed to get the ball only a number of occasions. However, the arrival of Fabregas was instrumental behind Arsenal’s spirited performance. For many Arsenal fans, it was a pleasing experience to see Fabregas and Nasri playing together for the first time.

Arsenal’s Loan Deal with AC Milan for Philippe Senderos Officially Confirmed

Reports had in the media that Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos had undergone a medical test at AC Milan with a view to joining the Italian giant on a yearlong loan deal. However, the loan deal was not made from either side until recently. Now, the North London club confirmed that Swiss defender Senderos will play for AC Milan this season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger thinks that Arsenal had a number of options in the defense at this moment and that is why Senderos was not getting enough first team action for Arsenal. Wenger also thinks that Senderos will get top level games at Milan. So, it is very clear that Arsenal’s congestion in the back line played big role behind his loan departure for Milan.

Yes, I agree with Mr. Wenger that Arsenal currently has a number of actions in defense and the truth is that Senderos could not become an automatic choice at Arsenal yet, even though he played 115 games so far since he joined the club in 2003. Kolo Toure and William Gallas are the first choices for Arsenal centre defense at this moment. Now, let us see if Philippe Senderos can win more first team football at AC Milan. No doubt, that will be helpful for both Philippe Senderos as well as Arsenal.

Arsenal vs FC Twente CL Qualifying 08-09: Cesc Fabregas Expected to be Back in Action

Arsenal will take on Dutch club FC Twente tomorrow in the second leg of Champions league third round qualifying match. Arsenal won the first leg match at Netherlands 2-0 and they are clearly favorite for tomorrow’s home match as well. However, Arsenal’s priority in the match must be something more than just ensuring a place in the Champions League (CL) final round.

Arsenal has recently suffered a 1-0 loss at Fulham and now the Gunners are gearing up to put on an excellent performance against FC Twente in what would be a strong come back from their Fulham setback. Even manager Arsenal Wenger also sees it a good chance to make a strong come back.

There is good news for Arsenal fans as their star midfielder Cesc Fabregas is expected to come back in action after recovering from hamstring injury that forced him out for the first two premier league games of the season. His arrival must bolster the Gunners midfielder which looked weak against Fulham. However, Arsenal is going to miss a number of key players including the new signing defender Mikael Silvestre who has suffered a thigh muscle strain. Philippe Senderos is in his way to AC Milan to undergo a medical test looking to join the club on a loan deal. Long term absentees Abou Diaby, Amaury Bischoff, Tomas Rosicky and striker Eduardo will remain sidelined.

Arsenal vs FC Twente CL Qualifying 08-09: Arsenal Looking to Come Back Strongly

Arsene Wenger wants his boys come back strongly against FC Twente tomorrow in the second leg match of Champions League third qualifying round. After the Fulham setback, Arsene Wenger sees it a chance to bounce back strongly in order to put the memory of Fulham loss behind. Arsenal recently lost to Fulham 1-0. Ahead of tomorrow’s meeting at Emirates stadium, Arsenal has two goals advantage from the first leg that Arsenal won 2-0. However, it is pretty clear that Arsene Wenger does not want his boys focus on holding that advantage; rather he would like to see Arsenal playing with their full confidence to pull off a big margin victory.

Wenger said that recruiting a player is not the solution for a likes of defeat they suffered at Fulham. He thinks Arsenal did not play well, and that is why, Arsenal needs to find out the reason for their off-form. Arsenal manager also added that Arsenal had similar problems to win first few games of previous seasons, but still they could end up winning three points. However, this time, he said, we could not win and that was the difference. He does not think that Fulham played exceptionally well; rather Arsenal’s dismal performance was the reason behind their loss at Fulham.

Well, whatever the reason is, Arsenal fans are now looking forward to tomorrow’s home match against McClaren’s team FC Twente and they would like to see Arsenal players playing well and pull off a confidence-booster victory.

Aston Villa Manager O’Neil Calls Wenger’s Interest in Gareth Barry ‘Strange’, ‘Bizarre’

Arsene Wenger’s interest to sign Gareth Barry from Aston Villa has taken aback the Villa boss Martin O’Neil who terms Wenger’s surprise comment on Barry a ‘bizarre’. Wenger recently expressed that he was interested to sign Gareth Barry in summer. Barry has been linked with a possible move to Liverpool all the summer, but Liverpool could not match the amount Barry is valued at Villa.

Signing a centre midfielder has been a priority for Arsenal in the summer transfer window following the departures of midfielders Flamini, Gilberto and Hleb this summer. Wenger has also been tracking Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso. However, Martin O’Neil confirmed that he had no talks with Wenger over Barry’s deal. Now, let us see if Arsene Wenger really makes a bid for Gareth Barry before the transfer deadline gets closed.

Arsenal Chairman Hill-Wood: Money is Available to Buy an Experienced Player

Arsenal slipped in their only second match of the season, suffering an early dent in their title bid. There are many who overly criticized Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger following a 1-0 defeat to Fulham, the first in 42 years. Some also think that Arsenal needs to recruit star players to bolster the squad. Even some would also say that Arsenal is running out of the money and can not buy a high-profile international.

However, Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has recently ensured that Gunners have enough money available to sing an international star. Peter Hill-Wood thinks that the current squad is more than capable of winning silverware. The Chairman has also added that it is not always possible to please the fans and do everything the fans wish to. Regarding the shocking defeat to Fulham, Mr. Hill-Wood thinks, Arsenal did not play well against Fulham, but he has termed the idea of buying a lots of players rubbish.

Arsenal lost a few midfielders like Alexander Hleb, Flamini, Gilberto Silva in Summer transfer window, and some of the key players in the midfield including Cesc Fabregas, Tomas Rosicky are currently injured out. So, there is a rumor that Arsene Wenger might land a centre midfielder before the transfer window shuts on 1 September. However, nothing can be taken as granted yet.

Arsene Wenger: ‘We are not close to signing anybody’

Arsene Wenger has indicated that any more signing in Summer transfer window is not confirmed yet. Following the 1-0 loss at Fulham in recent league match, Wenger is facing criticism and has been pressurized to sign a centre midfielder by the transfer window closes. However, Mr. Wenger could not indicate any confirmation of buying a new player soon. Rather, he admitted that Arsenal was not close to any more signing at this moment.

Arsenal lost midfielders like Mathieu Flamini, Gilberto Silva and Alexander Hleb in Summer, while landed some potential young players like Samir Nasri, Aaron Ramsey and Amaury Bischoff. Samir Nasri proved his skill in the opening match against West Brom scoring the wining goal, but was not impressive in their 1-0 loss at Fulham in the second match. Specially, Arsenal midfield appeared dismal in the second match.

Well, I think, the current Arsenal squad has the ability to retain premier league and give an effective try at Champions League as well. Remember, Cesc Fabregas sat out in both the matches with injury. He is expected to be back with tomorrow’s Champions league third round qualifying match against FA Twente. Moreover, Arsenal is also missing Tomas Rosicky at this moment. So, I think, once all the players will be back in action, Arsenal should not have any problem in the midfield.

However, you know that injury is part of professional football and no team can deny that. Who knows that Arsenal would not lose any more players due to injury by the time the currently injured players will be back from injury. In top level of football, every point lost or every point achieved is counted and at the end of the each of those points matter. Here, I want to make myself clear saying that Arsenal really has a balanced squad and I would not be surprised even if they win double this season, considering the youthful squad with full of talent and guidance of someone like Arsene Wenger. However, one more midfielder, I think, would provide Wenger more options in the midfield and attack, besides strengthening their reserve bench.

Gokhan Inler Rejected Arsenal Move

Udinese centre midfielder Gokhan Inler has rejected a move to Arsenal thinking that it would be little early to join Arsenal. The midfielder spent a successful debut season in Serie A after joining Udinese last season in a move from FC Zurich. His performance for Switzerland in Euro 2008 was impressive too.

Arsenal has been tacking the Inler all through the Summer in their bid to land a centre midfielder following the exits of Gilberto Silva, Aliaksandr Hleb and Mathieu Flamini. The midfielder was also linked with other big clubs like Liverpool, Juventus and Inter Milan.

With the rejection of Inler, Arsenal’s hope of signing a centre midfielder appears dismal as the club’s other targets: Aston Villa Gareth Barry and Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso- demand high sale-on price. However, still nothing can be taken as granted.

Emmanuel Adebayor Sees Fulham Loss as a Warning for Arsenal

Arsenal’s Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor has admitted that their title bid has been difficult following the recent setback Arsenal suffered at Fulham. Arsenal lost their second game of the season 1-0 to Fulham, even though Gunners started the season with a 1-0 victory over promoted West Bromwich Albion in the opening match. However, Adebayor, who was Arsenal’s highest goal scorer of the last season, sees the defeat as a warning for their title bid.

The Togo international thinks that Arsenal can not afford to any more loss at such an early stage of the season and asks for more focus from his teammates. He thinks the defeat can be the best warning for the club.

Arsenal midfield looked fragile in the match against Fulham and reports have it that manager Arsene Wenger is pondering to recruit a midfielder in the Summer transfer window. Let us see if Arsenal really lands another midfielder to fill the gap created by the departures of Mathieu Flamini, Alex Hleb and Gilberto Silva.

Xabi Alonso Asks Liverpool for Arsenal Move

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has recently asked his club to let him join Arsenal. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger already expressed his interest to sign up in the Spanish midfielder. Alonso is reportedly fed up with Liverpool boss’s interest in Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry, despite the fact that Alonso has been performed pretty well in Liverpool midfield. Even the Liverpool fans are also happy with his consistent performance at Liverpool.

However, the midfielder is no longer interested to stay at Liverpool and has been linked with a possible move to Juventus and Arsenal. However, bids from neither side made Benitez happy to let the Spanish midfielder leave the club. Now, with Alonso asking himself for a Arsenal move, it is pretty much clear that Arsenal does have a good chance to land the pass-master at Arsenal.

Arsenal also has another advantage here. Arsenal manager recently expressed his interest in Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry, whom Liverpool boss Benitez has been tracking from last season, but could not come under a deal with Villa officials yet. So, Liverpool would see a stiff competition now to sign Barry. The point is that Liverpool must have to sell Alonso in order to sign Barry because the Anfield club is reportedly running out of money at this moment. So, for their own sake, Liverpool might try to come to terms with Arsenal in terms of financial side of the Alonso deal.

Arsenal can keep the pressure on Liverpool by revealing their interest in Barry. However, Arsenal will have no problem even if they can not sign neither of the players because Wenger still has an option open in Udinese midfielder Gokhan Inler to add in his midfield. So, I think, Arsenal can still sign any of the three players to increase the strength of their midfield.

Rafael Benitez Warned Arsenal over Xabi Alonso Bid

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez threw a warning for Arsenal over their bid for Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso. There was clear indication in Benitez’s words that Arsenal must increase their budget if they really want to sign the Spanish midfielder. Arsenal, on the other hand, has been looking for a central midfielder for the last few weeks to bolster their weakened midfield by the end of summer transfer window. Besides Alonso, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is also considering Gareth Barry, who has also been a target of Liverpool, and Udinese’s Gokhan Inler.

Arsenal is reportedly interested to spend £14m for landing the Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso, but that does not match the amount Liverpool valued for Spain’s Euro 2008 winning midfielder. It has been reported that Arsenal might have to add two millions more t create a possible chance of signing Alonso. Benitez said that he wanted to sell Xabi Alonso because he needed money and could not sell the midfielder for cheap. Now, let us see if Wenger would really increase his proposed bid for Xabi Alonso by few millions or would sign either Barry or Inler in Summer. However, it is true that Gareth Barry’s sale-on price is less likely to be less than that of Alonso.

Cesc Fabregas Eyes on Arsenal Captaincy and Considers Alonso to be Perfect Signing

Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has expressed that his Spanish national team mate Xabi Alonso would be the perfect signing for Arsenal, considering Alonso’s passing and defensive ability along with his experience. Moreover, Fabregas, who is currently out of action with injury, has vowed that he would not follow Alex Hleb and Mathieu Flamini to leave Arsenal because he thinks Arsenal has something special and he enjoys the way Arsenal plays football. In addition, the Spanish midfielder has also wished to captain the club one day.

Arsenal is believed to be running for three midfielders including Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso, Gareth Barry from Aston Villa and Gokhan Inler from Udinese to strengthen the midfield that looked very exposed in their recent defeat to Fulham. Fabregas is one of the key members of Arsenal who is currently recovering from injury. His absence has further weakened Arsenal midfield. Now, let us see if Arsenal can land Xabi Alonso in what Arsenal would have a Spanish partnership in the midfield.

Arsenal to Sign Udinese Midfielder Gokhan Inler?

Following the disappointing performance at Fulham on Saturday, Arsenal is seriously considering to sign up a midfielder to fill up the void created by the departures of Mathieu Flamini and Gilberto Silva in Summer. Arsene manager Arsene Wenger earlier indicated that he was going to land a midfielder at Emirates Stadium, and now after the defeat to Fulham in which Arsenal midfield looked very weak and fragile, it is obvious that Wenger would definitely go for another purchase in Summer transfer window.

Well, there are three targets for the Gunners boss- Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso, Aston Villa’s Gareth Barry and Udinese's Gokhan Inler. Considering the sale-on value of the three midfielders, Inler is thought to be the most likely signing for Arsenal. Arsenal always maintains low profile in terms of spending in the transfer market, rather the London club always go for young talented and potential players who are very often turned to important assets for the club. So, considering the fact that Arsenal might not spend £18million or more for either Alonso or Barry, Swiss midfielder Gokhan Inler, who is currently playing in Serie A club Udinese, could be the viable option for Arsene Wenger to bolster his midfield.

Udinese midfielder Inler has already played 30 matches for Udinese and has been playing for Switzerland national team since 2006, winning 15 international caps. So, the 24-year-old has some experience with him as well.

Arsenal Lost to Fulham 1-0 as Strikers Missed Chances and Midfield Looked Weak

Arsenal suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage. So, Arsenal has become the first team from ‘Big Four’ to have suffered a defeat this season. Fulham’s Norwegian defender Brede Hangeland scored in the 21st minute of the match. Arsenal midfield looked week and that made their defense more exposed.

Well, it does not mean that Arsenal did not create any chance in the match. In fact, a number of chances came by their way, but lacked proper execution. Striker Robin van Persie had a good chance in the 20th minute but his shot went wide off the target. Emmanuel Adebayor also got a couple of good chances including one in the 23rd minute when his header went outside. In the 36th minute, English striker Theo Walcott missed a chance as his shot from 20 yards went over the cross bar after receiving a pass from Adebayor.

Arsene Wenger gave the due credit to Fulham saying that they started the game strongly and was sharper in the first half. However, he thinks, Arsenal had more chance in the match than Fulham. He also indicated nervousness among the players in the last 25 minutes of the match. The manager is now eagerly waiting for the full recovery of Cesc Fabregas who would definitely strengthen Arsenal midfield. Now, there is enough reason Wenger might land another midfielder at Arsenal before the summer transfer window closes on 1 September. Wenger already expressed his interest to sign Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry.

Arsenal Defender Armand Traore Joined Portsmouth on a Year Loan Deal

Arsenal’s left back Armand Traore has joined Portsmouth on a loan deal for a year. The 18-year-old midfielder now could be a good option for Pompey in the left back position. His inclusion will definitely strengthen Portsmouth squad. Although Hreidarsson has so far been the only reliable left back in Portsmouth squad, but now Armand Traore can be a competitor for first team action. Manager Harry Redknapp will also be happy to have someone full of potential like the Frenchman Armand Traore.

The left back joined Arsenal youth club in 2005-2006 season and played 10 matches so far for Arsenal senior team. Last year, he represented France U-19 squad as well. I think, Arsenal did not right thing by letting him go to Portsmouth on loan, because he can win more first team match at Portsmouth this season and it will definitely help the player flourish his potential fully. I hope, by the time he will be back at the end of this season, he will be able to impress Wenger to consider him for first team football pretty much regularly.

Arsene Wenger Says, ‘Adebayor’s Heart is with Arsenal’

Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has been booed by Arsenal fans during their 1-0 victory over West Brom in the opening match of the English premier league 2008-2009 season. However, Arsenal manager Arsene manager thinks that Adebayor made a sacrifice to decide to stay at Arsenal, despite having a number of offers from Europe’s big clubs like AC Milan and Barcelona. Even Adebayor himself was reportedly interested to leave the club.

The Togolese striker has recently signed a new four-year deal offering £80,000 a week. Wenger thinks that Adebayor was unfairly treated in the opening match because his heart is still with the club. Wenger has also added that Adebayor always preferred to stay at Arsenal, despite having a number of offers from other big clubs. Adebayor was the highest scorer for Arsenal last season with 30 goals to his credit.

I personally think that Arsenal fans should support Adebayor because he is 24 and has spent a very successful season with a big club like Arsenal. From professional point of view, it was very natural that Europe’s big clubs would track him for the next season, but still he did not leave the club being assured of an improved contract. I think, he deserved the new contract he signed recently for four years. I think, we should understand that he is currently the leading striker at Arsenal at this moment.

Arsenal Interested to Sign Midfielder Gareth Barry from Aston Villa

After losing a number of key players including Mathieu Flamini and Gilberto Silva in the midfield, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is interested to sign an experienced midfielder and has already set his eyes on Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry. Wenger has expressed his interest to sing Barry to fill up the void in the midfield, but he is aware of Gareth Barry’s probable high value in the transfer market. Liverpool has also been following the Villa midfielder all the through the Summer, but has not yet reached an agreement with Villa officials for signing Gareth Barry.

Wenger has said that Barry is a good player and admitted that he is one of the players Arsenal follows. Despite knowing that a big amount will be needed to land Barry at Arsenal, the manager is going to make a bid for the midfielder. With Liverpool already tracking the midfielder for so long, it is pretty much clear that Aston Villa would like to make good cash in by selling Gareth Barry, who is eagerly waiting to leave Villa looking for Champions League football.

Mikael Silvestre: Joining Arsenal is an Honor and a Surprise

Arsenal’s new signing Mikael Silvestre has said that he is very happy to have signed for Arsenal. The French defender sees the move as an honor as well as a big surprise. Mikael Silvestre has become the first player to have made a deal between Arsenal and Manchester United in the last 20 years. Vivian Anderson was the last player who made a move between Arsenal and Manchester United in 1987. Silvestre joined Arsenal from Manchester United on an undisclosed fee under a two-year contract. He has admitted that he could not say no when Arsenal proposed him.

Silvestre spent nine years at Old Trafford and he has admitted that he will miss Old Trafford and thanked former boss Sir Alex Ferguson for not standing in his way to join Arsenal. In the last season, Silvestre spent most of the time in the bench. Hope for more first team football played a big role behind this move because he did not want to spend any more time in the bench.

Now, Mikael Silvestre sees it as a challenge to perform regularly for Arsenal. The 31-year-old midfielder is now looking to have a good start with the Gunners. Silvertre now wants to serve the Gunners as much as he can. Let us see if he can add something what Arsenal lacked to clinch English premier league for the last couple of seasons. Well, time will answer it.

Arsenal Signed French Defender Mikael Silvestre on Two-Year Deal

Signing an aged player for Arsenal came as a surprise for the Arsenal fans. Manager Arsene Wenger is always well-known for signing young, potential players, but this time he has signed former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre. The 31-year-old French international joined Gunners on a two-year contract. Wenger earlier indicated that he would sign one or two more players in the Summer transfer window, but no body could even think of someone of Silvestre’s age.

Wenger believes that Silvestre will bring something what would make Arsenal a complete team in every aspect. Arsenal thinks the experience and maturity of Mikael Silvestre will be invaluable for Arsenal in the premier league race. Admitting that Arsenal squad lacks a bit of experience, Wenger sees Silvestre an experienced player who would help Arsenal out in this regard.

Another advantage that Arsene Wenger might enjoy thanks to Silvestre is that the French international is capable of playing both in the left back position as well as in the midfield. With Arsenal already losing a few key players in the midfield, Silvestre would definitely become a very good option for Arsenal midfield.

Mikael Silvestre in Arsenal: How is That?

The transfer of Mikael Silvestre has created history as he has become the first player in 3 decades to join Arsenal directly from Manchester United. He was in Man Utd for almost 9 seasons and he had a good beginning but for the last 2/3 seasons, he is almost always in the bench. He has appeared for the club for more than 300 times and Mikael Silvestre is defender from France and he is passed his prime.

So, my first reaction was that there is nothing to be excited about Mikael Silvestre. However, on second thought, I became excited about him for two reasons. This Arsenal side has everything except experience. Silvestre has nearly a decade of experience in EPL and that can be a bonus for Arsenal. On the other hand, he was not too happy at Man Utd. He may feel the urge to show Man Utd boss that he is still a great defender.

What do you think about this matter?

Tomas Rosicky: Who is to Blame for Last Season?

I like Tomas Rosicky. He is a good midfielder and he is a good prospect for the gunners. I wish that he becomes more careful about what he says where. There is some reports that Tomas Rosicky blamed Gael Clichy and William Gallas for having no success in last season. He is from Czech Republic and it seems that Czech Republic media quoted him saying this kind of thing. Now, he has come out strongly and said that it was not in the way he said. Anyway, I thank him for coming forward and clearing the air. However, I wish that in future, he totally tries to stay away from anything that can cause the slightest of controversy. Arsenal has everything now. They just need total commitment and unity from all the players.

Emmanuel Adebayor is going to Stay at London

Many Arsenal fans were not happy with the way Emmanuel Adebayor treated the club before the start of this season. It seemed that Emmanuel Adebayor wanted to leave the club and go to either AC Milan or Barcelona. Even there was a lot of discussion about the price of Adebayor. Now, it seems that he will be going to stay in the club for a long term. It is now confirmed.

Well, I think that there is a lesson to be learnt by other players at Arsenal. The fans did not like the whole saga and showed their disapproval with this Togo national player. Arsene Wenger has come in support of him and asked the fans to calm down and support Adebayor. In fact, he can be a great asset for the club. Last season, he showed that he really can score and he was the second highest goal scorer in EPL. This time, he should try to be even one step better and become the top scorer.

Following the departure of midfielders Alexander Hleb, Gilberto Silva and Mathieu Flamini, Arsenal needs more options in the midfield at this moment. However, the good news for the Gunners is that their long-term absentee midfielder Tomas Rosicky is very close to come back in action. The Czech midfielder has been out of action for a long time since picking up a hamstring injury against Newcastle United.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is also happy with Rosicky’s progress to come back to action, shaking off the hamstring injury. Wenger hinted that Tomas Rosicky might come back in September. If he really does so, it will be a strong boost up for the Gunners in the premier league race. Now, let us see if Tomas Rosicky can come back with good form. All the Arsenal fans are now praying for his recovery and hoping to see him in good form.

Arsenal striker Eduardo Da Silva Likely to Recover from Ankle Injury by November

There are many who consider the lose of Eduardo Da Silva was one the big reasons behind Arsenal’s failure to win the premier league last season, even though the Gunners dominated the league table for about five months. The Croatian striker suffered an open dislocation of his ankle joint in a league match away at Birmingham in February this year, leaving Arsenal’s striking option restricted within Emmanuel Adebayor, Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner.

Arsenal wanted Eduardo to be back in action by September, but recently Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that the striker would need two more months to make a sound come back in action for Arsenal. Well, Wenger will have more option once he comes back, but the question lies here is that if Eduardo will be able to back with the good form he was serving with at Arsenal last season. Now, let us pray for his quick recovery from ankle injury and hope to see Eduardo with his prime form.

Samir Nasri: The Man to Carry on Arsenal’s Hope of Winning Silverware?

Arsenal did not play bad over the last few seasons, but still they could not win any silverware sine 2005 FA Cup triumph. Arsenal even produced good football on a regular basis, but at the end of the day Gunners fans were not as happy as they could have been with some silverware. Now, after experiencing the Gunners in the first match of premier league against West Bromwich, there are many who think Arsenal has got what it lacked over the last couple of years to bring silverware at Emirates stadium this season. The indication is clearly to Arsenal’s £12m summer signing Samir Nasri, considered as the future of French football.

The 21-year-old already showed a glimpse of his skill in his debut match for Arsenal against West Bromwich, scoring the winning goal. Well, football pundits do not give much of thought to that goal when consider him a player worthwhile to be able to give Arsenal “the golden touch of King Midas.” Actually, though he started as a left winger in the match, Nasri made his presence felt in almost everywhere in the field.

What is more important is that he appeared with his ability to make an effective link between Arsenal midfield and attack. This is the link, some think, Arsenal has been missing for a number of seasons since the departure of Pires and Ljungberg.

Well, I think, Samir Nasri has immense talent and potential in him and there is no doubt about it. He is just 21 and has got someone like Arsene Wenger as his mentor. So, I think, he has an excellent career ahead of him, if he just sticks to his basics. However, still, it would not be fair to consider him as someone who can single-handedly bring success for the Gunners, because only one match has gone in the season. Moreover, Arsenal has to play well as a team, if they are to win silverware. Not anyone can do this himself. However, there is no doubt Samir Nasri will have a big impact in his debut season in English premier league.

Arsene Wenger: We Develop Players besides Making Results

This is absolutely true that Arsenal created a number of star players so far, Cesc Fabregas and Emmanuel Adebayor being the latest examples. Both of them were not big star at the beginning of the last season, but by the time the season came to end, both of them turned into tow big stars in England. Though Mr. Wenger already showed that he has the ability to make result with his young guns, there are few who are still skeptical about Arsenal’s success, considering the lack of experience in the squad.

However, Wenger denied it once again and hit back saying Arsenal not only make results but also develop players. When everybody is talking about the strength of Arsenal midfield, Wenger does not seem to be worried about it. Rather, he thinks the young midfielder Denilson will be developed with getting more games this season. The Brazilian even indicated his good form in the first match against West Bromwich in premier league. Wenger thinks that Denilson will have a big impact this season.

Actually, Denilson is not the first choice of Wenger in the midfield position as there are Cesc Fabregas and Abou Diaby. However, if Wenger’s comment on Denilson is to be believed, it is for sure Cesc Fabregas and Abou Diaby have to face some challenge to hold on their first team place after coming back from injury. No doubt, that will be an always ‘welcome worry’ for Arsene Wenger.
