Cesc Fabregas: The Prime Target of AC Milan in Summer 2009 Transfer Window?

It has been reported by La Gazzetta Dello Sport that AC Milan has set its eyes on Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, the influential midfielder from Spain. No doubt, he has shown excellent progress over the last couple of years and there are a number of clubs including European champion Barcelona who are interested to sign Fabregas in Summer 2009.

The Milan based club is reportedly trying to make some good cash in by selling Brazilian star Kaka to Real Madrid who are now desperate to sign the Brazilian star. Well, it is true that Arsenal would not like to sell their prime star at this moment. In fact, the Gunners do not have many star players in the squad and it would be a big mistake if Arsenal lets Fabregas move away from Arsenal in Summer. In the same way, Fabregas would also make a big mistake if he tries to move to AC Milan from Arsenal because he would not have as much choices at AC Milan as he now has at Arsenal where he has already been a regular player.

Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas Looks to Improve his Defensive Role in the Midfield

Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas said that the reaction he had showed after being substituted during Spain’s 1-0 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina in world cup qualifying was nothing but his passion and commitment as a sportsman. He responded angrily when he was taken off in the second hand half after scoring the winning goal for European champion Spain. It is true that Fabregas is believed to be one of the young prospects of Spain national team and thought to be one of the shining futures of Spanish side, but he rarely plays full time. Out of 33 appearances, Cesc Fabregas played 90 minutes in only five matches for Spain and in most of the time he is taken off when his team is leading in the match. That is what prompted Fabregas to think he has weakness defensively.

The young star of Arsenal wants to become a complete midfielder- meaning equally strong in attack as well as in defense and his desire is to make himself capable of playing whole 90 minutes for Spain. He also confirmed that he did not have lack of respect for anybody. The immediate outburst he showed after being substituted by Xabi Alonso was his guile and eager to give 100 percent for his country.

I welcome the passion and commitment that Cesc Fabregas has in him because that is what makes the difference between a great and an ordinary player. However, I think, Fabregas should not be frustrated because he is getting better day by day.

Arsenal Pulled off 4-0 Victory over FC Twente to Confirm Champions League Group Stage

Arsenal showed some magnificent football against FC Twente at home last night. Gunners outclassed the opponents 4-0 to clinch a 6-0 overall score to ensure their group stage in Champions League. After the Fulham loss Arsenal needed a morale-booster performance against FC Twente and they did exactly what could have needed to make a strong come back. Moreover, Arsenal’s celebration has been extended as the midfielder Cesc Fabregas has returned in action from hamstring injury.

French midfielder Samir Nasri put Arsenal ahead in the 27th minute when his firing left-foot shot past goal keeper Nicolay Mihaylov into the Twente goal. Following the goal Arsenal got more confident and created a number of scoring chances before half time. The visiting side could not pose any threat for the Gunners and I would say it was a total dominance by the home team.

Though Samir Nasri played well throughout the first half, he was substituted by Emmanuel Eboue at the half time because the French international was suffering from stomach problem. Just seven minutes into the second half, Arsenal doubled their lead thanks to a goal from William Gallas. Arsenal Captain just needed to tap the ball into the net. Theo Walcott played really well and scored the third goal for Arsenal. The winger took a curled shot at goal in the 66th minutes that confirmed a big margin victory for the home team.

Denmark international Nicklas Bendtner was preferred to Emmanuel Adebayor in the starting line up, and Bendtner impressed with his performance as well, scoring the fourth goal for his team. With his injury time goal, Arsenal confirmed a total domination all through the match.

Actually, Bendtner looked like a competent target man in the match, even though he managed to get the ball only a number of occasions. However, the arrival of Fabregas was instrumental behind Arsenal’s spirited performance. For many Arsenal fans, it was a pleasing experience to see Fabregas and Nasri playing together for the first time.

Arsenal vs FC Twente CL Qualifying 08-09: Cesc Fabregas Expected to be Back in Action

Arsenal will take on Dutch club FC Twente tomorrow in the second leg of Champions league third round qualifying match. Arsenal won the first leg match at Netherlands 2-0 and they are clearly favorite for tomorrow’s home match as well. However, Arsenal’s priority in the match must be something more than just ensuring a place in the Champions League (CL) final round.

Arsenal has recently suffered a 1-0 loss at Fulham and now the Gunners are gearing up to put on an excellent performance against FC Twente in what would be a strong come back from their Fulham setback. Even manager Arsenal Wenger also sees it a good chance to make a strong come back.

There is good news for Arsenal fans as their star midfielder Cesc Fabregas is expected to come back in action after recovering from hamstring injury that forced him out for the first two premier league games of the season. His arrival must bolster the Gunners midfielder which looked weak against Fulham. However, Arsenal is going to miss a number of key players including the new signing defender Mikael Silvestre who has suffered a thigh muscle strain. Philippe Senderos is in his way to AC Milan to undergo a medical test looking to join the club on a loan deal. Long term absentees Abou Diaby, Amaury Bischoff, Tomas Rosicky and striker Eduardo will remain sidelined.

Arsenal Chairman Hill-Wood: Money is Available to Buy an Experienced Player

Arsenal slipped in their only second match of the season, suffering an early dent in their title bid. There are many who overly criticized Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger following a 1-0 defeat to Fulham, the first in 42 years. Some also think that Arsenal needs to recruit star players to bolster the squad. Even some would also say that Arsenal is running out of the money and can not buy a high-profile international.

However, Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood has recently ensured that Gunners have enough money available to sing an international star. Peter Hill-Wood thinks that the current squad is more than capable of winning silverware. The Chairman has also added that it is not always possible to please the fans and do everything the fans wish to. Regarding the shocking defeat to Fulham, Mr. Hill-Wood thinks, Arsenal did not play well against Fulham, but he has termed the idea of buying a lots of players rubbish.

Arsenal lost a few midfielders like Alexander Hleb, Flamini, Gilberto Silva in Summer transfer window, and some of the key players in the midfield including Cesc Fabregas, Tomas Rosicky are currently injured out. So, there is a rumor that Arsene Wenger might land a centre midfielder before the transfer window shuts on 1 September. However, nothing can be taken as granted yet.
