Xabi Alonso Asks Liverpool for Arsenal Move

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has recently asked his club to let him join Arsenal. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger already expressed his interest to sign up in the Spanish midfielder. Alonso is reportedly fed up with Liverpool boss’s interest in Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry, despite the fact that Alonso has been performed pretty well in Liverpool midfield. Even the Liverpool fans are also happy with his consistent performance at Liverpool.

However, the midfielder is no longer interested to stay at Liverpool and has been linked with a possible move to Juventus and Arsenal. However, bids from neither side made Benitez happy to let the Spanish midfielder leave the club. Now, with Alonso asking himself for a Arsenal move, it is pretty much clear that Arsenal does have a good chance to land the pass-master at Arsenal.

Arsenal also has another advantage here. Arsenal manager recently expressed his interest in Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry, whom Liverpool boss Benitez has been tracking from last season, but could not come under a deal with Villa officials yet. So, Liverpool would see a stiff competition now to sign Barry. The point is that Liverpool must have to sell Alonso in order to sign Barry because the Anfield club is reportedly running out of money at this moment. So, for their own sake, Liverpool might try to come to terms with Arsenal in terms of financial side of the Alonso deal.

Arsenal can keep the pressure on Liverpool by revealing their interest in Barry. However, Arsenal will have no problem even if they can not sign neither of the players because Wenger still has an option open in Udinese midfielder Gokhan Inler to add in his midfield. So, I think, Arsenal can still sign any of the three players to increase the strength of their midfield.
